The Step-by-Step Commercial Mat Cleaning Process
Because it’s important to us that our customers learn the important steps and can see the commercial mat cleaning life cycle for themselves, we’ve created this “tour” of our Health Mats Philadelphia facility so you can see where your commercial mats are serviced, firsthand. From scraper mats to entrance mats and beyond, our team takes pride in properly servicing your commercial floor mats to ensure they remain hygienic and last as long as possible.

Step 1: The “Cages” & Sling Bags
The first stop in the cleaning process is the area of our facility where dirty commercial floor mats are first delivered. Here they are sorted into sling bags or cages for laundering.
Step 2: Automated Rail System
Once the sling bags are filled, they are then delivered to an automated rail system to be weighed.
If you’ve ever picked up a commercial mat, you’ve probably noticed they are quite heavy. Now imagine picking up several of them at one time. You can probably imagine how strenuous that would be!
If you can believe it, each one can weigh about 250 lbs!
Step 3: Commercial Washing Machines
After being delivered via the rail system, the mats are transported to the commercial washing machines for cleaning.
Step 4: Automated Shuttle System
Once they are clean, the mats are then transported from the washer into the dryer via an automated shuttle system.
Step 5: Sorting Area
After exiting the dryer, the mats are then delivered to the sorting area, where they are grouped by size and color.
Step 6: Loading Pallet, Forklift, & Truck Area
The final step in the process happens in the Loading Pallet, Forklift, & Truck Area. This is where the laundered mats are stacked onto a pallet in sequence of a delivery schedule. The clean mats pallet is loaded onto a Health Mats truck with help from a forklift. After that, they are ready for delivery!
